| Information about volunteering with WRASAC
The Women's Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre is a women's
collective involved in running a service that provides support to
women, young women and girls (13+) who have been raped, sexually
abused or sexually exploited at anytime in their lives. As a volunteer you can get involved in
All women who want to join the organisation have to successfully complete our initial training. This includes: Collective working and Confidentiality; Equal opportunities and feminism; Rape and Child Sexual Abuse; Support skills; Prostitution, Pornography; Working with Survivors who Self Harm, Working with Suicidal survivors, Ritual Abuse and Domestic Abuse. WRASAC provides follow up ongoing internal training on a wide range of related issues. The initial training is 12 sessions long and there is a requirement for women to attend a minimum of 70% of the training. WRASAC is required to conduct enhanced disclosure checks on all support workers and these forms are completed at the start of the training along with a self-disclosure form.
