WRASAC offers a quality support service for women, young women and girls in the Dundee and Angus area who have been raped or sexually abused at anytime in their lives.

WRASAC is a women only organisation, run by women for women, exempt under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 Section 7 (ii) and (e).

Please note that we will endeavour to return any messages left on our answering machine as soon as possible. However due to the recent high volume of calls we have been receiving we cannot guarentee we can return calls during our helpline opening hours. We would encourage, wherever possible, survivors to call during our helpline hours. The most up to date opening times will be available on our website and answering machine.

Management Committee Member Appeal

WRASAC is currently going through an exciting time in it's development. We have recently received a Capacity Building Grant from Lloyds TSB Foundation for Scotland which will be used to undertake an Organisational Structural Review and review our strategic direction.

We are currently looking for women interested in becoming part of the WRASAC Management Committee in order to take the organisation forward. We would be interested in hearing from women with expereince in any of the following areas;

Accounting, Fundraising, HR/Personnel,
Employment Law, Appraisals,
Strategic Planning, Voluntary sector.

Angus Women’s Aid and Women’s Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre

ANGUS OUTREACH PROJECT

This project aims to provide support to women who are adult survivors of child sexual abuse who live in Rural Angus.   

If you are a woman looking for support, live in Angus and would like support near to where you live, you con contact WRASAC on (01382) 201291.  Helpline opening times above.

Agencies can refer women to WRASAC and the Project by using our referral form link below.

2009 Volunteer Training

We are now no longer accepting applications for our 2009 volunteer training. We have had an overwhelming interest from women and thank everyone for their interest in the organisation. If you have already applied for the 2009 training we will be in touch soon. Our next training will be in 2010.

Placement Students

WRASAC is ometimes able to offer placements for women undertaking their counselling diploma. There is a requirement for our placement students to go through our volunteer training programme (next training June 2009)

SIGN LANGUAGE DVD RELEASED

We are pleased to announce the release of our General Services Information Leaflet, Information for adult survivors of child sexual abuse and Information for survivors of rape or sexual assault in sign language.

Please note we hope to be able to provide a link to the DVD so that it can be watched online in the near future. In the meantime contact the centre for a copy.

COSCA

As of the 1st November 2008 WRASAC became a full organisational member of COSCA.

As part of the requirement WRASAC works within COSCA’s Statement of Ethics and Code of Practice, can become involved in COSCA’s policy groups and panels, are consulted about policy and developments in counselling and psychotherapy and the use
of counselling skills, are represented by COSCA at national, UK and international levels, receive the COSCA Journal, Counselling in Scotland, and other information relating to
developments in counselling and psychotherapy and the use of counselling skills.

The Centre is currently working towards COSCA' s Recognition scheme for organisations.
